A classic combination: Browns & Blues for three collages
Demonstrations in Cobalt Blue, Burnt Sienna, Sand & Sea Blue for Week 10
Blues and browns in combination is classic, and probably my favourite way to mix shading colours instead of using black. I felt inspired by Week 10’s colours and found time to play with the combinations in my studio this weekend. I created three sketchbook artworks using tissue paper and Aquarelle pencils along with acrylic paint and medium.
This is also a last call out for the Early Bird offer for Collage Makers Summit that starts tomorrow, it runs from 17-30 March. See info and links below.
You might have seen the quick time lapse video on my Instagram account, and I’m sharing the longer version here. The artwork starts with the words Make Time For Art, letters are turned into heart shapes and then become a cat shape. You can see the video below (sound on for a bit of ASMR, there is no other commentary).
I created two landscape collage demos for contributing subscribers where I go into detail about materials I used and the full processes.
Collage Makers Summit 17 to 30 March
As mentioned, the summit starts tomorrow Monday 17 March. The $20 off Early Bird offer ends tonight. If you’re still wanting to join, do it now. A bonus for #coloricombo contributing subscribers: there’s an extra $10 off, look for the code after the paywall.
Landscapes and Portugal
There was a beautiful full moon out on Friday so I felt inspired to create two landscape themed collages. You can see the outcomes below, contributing subscribers have access to two demos showing how they were made. The first is about half an hour, the second about fifteen minutes and both have include me taking you through the creating process.
The theme of landscape is ideal for exploring a variety of techniques in different materials including mono printing, watercolour, painted paper collage, acrylic layering and pastels. This is what we’ll be doing in Portugal on Vibrant Horizons, my summer art retreat from 14-21 July.
The art program is packed, we’ll be visiting interesting locations from medieval villages to dramatic coastlines and ancient castles. Don’t miss out! There are only two spaces remaining, have a look at the Uptrek website for all info.
Here are the two collage landscape outcomes.
Contributing subscribers can see the demos of the two collage below.
