In today’s main lesson I am demonstrating the mixing of primary and secondary colours with white and black to create tints, shades and tones. Once you go down the rabbit hole of colour mixing it can lead one to all kinds of discoveries. Mixing oranges that developed into rich browns was a rewarding process for me.

Discover what happens when you mix yellow with black, create moody blues, warm reds and rosy tints as well a wide selection of greens, from fresh to deep forest hues Have a go and see what you discover with the mixing of modern primaries in combination with black and white.

Lesson Two - Tints & Tones

Dedicating a sketchbook to colour exploration is a rewarding exercise. In this second lesson of Colori Curious I dive a bit deeper into the world of modern primaries, adding black and white to mixes of primary and secondary colours. Take a look what I’ve discovered.

Bonus Lessons

There are a further two bonus lessons exclusively for contributing subscribers. In the first I demonstrate six terms used to describe colour.

In the second, the paper sheet used in to clean off excess paint whilst doing the colour mixing exercise is turned into a colourful painting of circular shapes.

If you’re a contributing subscriber, you can watch the two video lessons below. If you’re not, please consider a paid subscription.
