Colour curious? See the 14 Colori Flori palettes
For the upcoming Colori Flori Summit (12-25 May) each artist chose a specific #coloricombo combination to work in
In two days’ time (Saturday 26 April), Early Bird Registration opens for the 2025 Colori Flori Summit. This two week long online event is built around colours and florals that are celebrated with a daily dose of creativity brought to you by fourteen professional artists. Each of them will share a lesson using a specific Coloricombo palette, sourced from the archive collection shared as weekly colour prompts over the last three years.
Delicious colours
Here’s a sneaky peek of the fourteen #coloricombo palettes chosen by each teacher for their lesson. In all of the projects shared from 12-25 May you'll see specific creative processes in recorded and edited lessons of around 30-35 minutes each. I'll share some more about the lessons in the next post and newsletter.
Lifelong access
When you register for the summit you'll be in the system, and when the content is released you'll be able to access the daily lessons. In addition to the summit's lessons I will be adding a bonus project Colori Curious: Over three days, from 9-11 May, colour mixing demos using modern primaries will be shared in the kickstarter event that will get you in the mood to dive deeper into a world of colour.
You can join the Summit from 12-25 May and do the projects over two weeks as they are released, or just dip in and out at a pace that suits you.
You can also take your time with the lessons and do them at your leisure, and because you have lifelong access you can revisit them at any time afterwards.
The #coloricombo palettes
Let me show you the 14 colour palettes to be used in the summit. Each of the artist-teachers taking part has based their lesson on their chosen #coloricombo palette from the past. Take a look at the colour combos below.
Michelle Allen
A yummy mix of greens and pinks. The colour combination of Sap Green, Deep Teal, Pinks & Sea Green chosen by Michelle Allen for her lesson where she painted a big floral also happens to be the colours that are close to my heart. Colours from "My favourite Colours" Week 6's prompt of 2025.
Kenzie Elston
Get insight into how colour and design work together. Kenzie Elston uses these bold colours for floral drawings turned into surface design collections. The combination is chosen from a Hunderwasser artwork shared in Week 3 of 2024, Cool Pink, Candy Apple, Cantaloupe & Cornflower
Georgina Forbes
Delicious edible colours, this combination of Rose, Raspberry, Wine Red and Banana were taken from Andy Warhol's illustrated cookbook and featured in the prompt of Week 53 of 2024. Georgina Forbes' lesson features Australian wildflowers painted in this palette
Charlotte Hamilton
Charlotte Hamilton will demonstrate how she use hues of grey to create dimension and incorporates Cobalt, Banana, Ballet Shoe & Pistachio in a lesson about light and shadow.
This combination came from "Gift Box", the second time we featured artist Wayne Thiebaud for Week 50, 2024.
Julie Hamilton
Warm and soothing colours with an autumn feel, The artwork of the "Year of the Snake" provided the colours Turmeric, Rust, Pistachio and Green Grey. This was Julie Hamilton's pick for her lesson where botanical and floral elements are painted in her signature style in an accordion book. Colours were from Week 4 of 2025.
Tansy Hargan
Tansy Hargan is known for her love of colour and almost meditative painting of shapes in watercolour. Bright greens: Kelly Green, Veridian and Lime are combined with Russet to create an artwork of botanical forms painted in her beautiful calm way. A stained glass window designed by Harry Clarke shared in Week 12 of 2024 was the source for the palette.
Dar James
Pow!! Colours with punch, the complementary colour scheme of Ultra Violet, Lavender, Mustard and Acid Yellow was found in a glass sculpture of a sea anemone created by the Blaschka father and son team. See how Dar James work her magic with layered painted papers, creating a collage with floral and botanical elements. This was #coloricombo Week 28 of 2024.
Lucia Leyfield
I cannot help but to think of Neopolitan ice cream when I look at this combination of Dull Brown, Marshmallow Pink, Sunshine Yellow & Warm Grey from Week 24 of 2024. Don't miss Lucia Leyfield's lesson where she creates a folded dreamy floral artwork with a 3D element using the colours picked from an illustration by the Scottish naturalist Sir William Jardine.
Esté MacLeod
I love colours, using them in palettes of limited combinations are fantastic catalysts for creativity and the main reason why I started the Coloricombo program. For the summit I opted use a tone down combo and focus on Paynes grey, the colour also known as artist's black in combination with a deep clean blue for a floral themed lesson where aquarelle and water soluble crayons are used. Ultramarine Blue, Payne's Grey, Blue Grey and Light Grey is the combination used, they'll be coming up soon.
Jennifer Orkin Lewis
Jennifer Orkin Lewis is known for her delightful intuitive illustrative style using mainly gouache, she is teaching in Morocco at the moment, for her lesson where she demonstrates a vase filled with flowers. She chose inspiration from the #coloricombo "Naive Morocco" from Week 17 or 2024: Emerald Green, Indigo, Burnt Orange and Saffron.
Terry Runyan
Not unlike a cat - never one to follow convention - Terry Runyan based her palette on Week 37, 2024 which featured a Delft vase: Powder Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cornflower Blue & Light Grey
She chose to substitute the Light Grey in the original post for a Tiffany Blue to add a little spark to the monotone blue palette. Terry is know for her flowers and felines, in her lesson watercolours are layered and explained in easy to follow steps, and yes she sneaked a cat into artwork.
Carrie Schmitt
Carrie Schmitt is known for her freestyle florals and free spirited way of creating, she has a little surprise in store for her floral lesson where the combination of Scarlet, Candy Pink, Blush Grey & Mocha are used from Week 11 of 2024 featuring a collage by Ivan Chermayeff.
Lori Siebert
One of my kindred spirits, Lori Siebert also adores colours and flowers. Be inspired to try something different, you'll see how Lori create a 3D vase with sculpted painted paper flowers. She channels a bit of Vanessa Bell, (one of the Bloomsbury set) for her lesson using the still life artwork and its colours as muse. The artwork will be featured during Colori Flori. The colours are Jade, Pumpkin, Mallow & Scarlet.
Jennifer Wilkin Penick
Jennifer Wilkin Penick went way back in the archives and found five colours from a special #coloritree themed month which was part of #coloricombo in October 2023. In Jennifer's lesson you will see how she use the combination of Tangelo Orange, Soft Lavender, Pastel Matcha, Aqua and Han Blue to create striking, stylised florals.
