It's Worth Mentioning...
The colours for Week 29 are Dusty Rose, Mustard, Cadet Blue & Mouse Grey
Coloricombo is late this week, my apologies. I’ve been travelling all day and just arrived home from Portugal. Over the last week I had the honour of leading a very special art retreat in a rural setting about an hour’s drive from Lisbon, was organised by Uptrek.
This is the tenth retreat that I’ve taught on, and I was struck again by how something magical happens when a group of open minded people come together to make art and indulge in creative playtime - I would go as far as to say it can change lives.
For me as artist-teacher it’s an incredible experience to be instrumental in such an event. I also have to mention our hosts and support team at the venue: they were outstanding and it makes it that much easier to get into the flow and to allow things to evolve.
With the last week being devoted to so much art making and creative exploration, day trips to interesting places and conversations around dinner tables with the wonderful group of people, I actually didn’t get much time for anything else, including the planning of this week’s Coloricombo.
I am a great believer in serendipity and this prompt’s colours are indeed based on such an occurrence. As we disembarked from the airport bus and walked to the plane this morning I happened to be standing next to a woman who’s top drew my attention. I remarked to her that I like it. She thanked me then said that this was a good reminder that we should compliment people when you’re particularly drawn to the colour (or item of clothing or accessory) they’re wearing. It’ll lift their spirits and also make you more aware of things you like.
So yes, a reminder of something quite simple but powerful. The four colours on her top are the basis for our weekly inspiration.
