Number Three becomes an angel
Week 51's colours are Coral, Olive, Navy & Satin Slipper
Slightly muted Christmas colours are featured in Coloricombo Week 51’s prompt. These colours are used in an artwork below where I turned the shape of Number Three into an angel as part of this series of festive-themed drawings using numbers as starting point. I loved seeing your festive artworks posted by you in the Facebook group!
Before I go on, Number 5’s drawing and process video was not sent out directly to email earlier this week, you can see it below.
I use a compostable sponge to create a texture and used it today’s Number 3 drawing as well. You can see the short demo of the sketchbook drawing next.
In a further video demo for contributing subscribers, I shared the process of how I apply layers of white on top of colours: white gouache and a white Neocolor II crayon is used. Versafile ink pads were also used to add the blue and red background - this pigment ink is not water soluble, I used it to create a textured background.
Masking fluid was used to create the highlights for the stars. In this demo I use Inktense pencils to draw in detail, and blocks for added colour. The painting is done on Arches Cold Press watercolour paper.
A Creative Gift…Limited availability: Colori Flori Summit
The Colori Flori Summit 2025 took place in May and is now available again for a limited time period. This is a great idea for an alternative Christmas gift. Read on.
Along with thirteen other artists, we each put together a lesson focussed on florals and using a limited colour palette.
Registration is only open until Xmas and the Summit comes with lifetime access. There’s also an option to send the Summit to someone you love as a gift, ideal if you’re short of ideas for that perfect present. Find out more here.
