Three reasons why I share #coloricombo every week
Colour mixing and artwork using Week 27's colours
The #coloricombo weekly prompts are now in their third year. Let me share some of the many reasons why I share a fresh colour palette and feature an backstory of a linked artist every week:
Colour combinations are perfect catalysts for creativity. The limited selection of colours featured in #coloricombo can be used in any way to create art in any form, from journaling to art making, sketching, sewing and more.
I love helping people to become more colour confident. Colour is a fundamental component of art and design and by understanding how colours work, you’ll make bold decisions in your creative practice.
The prompts are instrumental in forging a creative habit! Showing up regularly and establishing a routine where creativity is a priority, creates pathways that will lead you to become a better artist.
I am curious by nature and enjoy delving into the past and discovering stories about artists to share with you. My intention is to highlight more obscure and lesser known artists, often less well recognised women artists and designers.
If you enjoy these weekly doses of colour and the accompanying artistic backstory, please share #coloricombo with others who might enjoy them too.
Become a Full Subscriber
Would you like to follow along as I paint quick artworks using the week’s featured colours? To get an insight into my favourite materials alongside the regular paint mixing demos? To access the previous week’s demonstrations from the beginning of 2024?
If yes, please consider becoming a full subscriber for $8 per month (that works out at less than $1.85 each week). By supporting #coloricombo you’ll allow me to devote more time researching and creating demos and videos. Coloricombo is a labour of love, but takes a chunk of time every week.
An annual subscription at $80 means only $1.54 per week - you’ll have to agree that this isn’t much for a weekly dose of colour and creativity. What else can you get for that that?
Week 27
This week I mixed the colours Melon, Sea Blue, Paynes Grey & Sage using QoR watercolours and Schmincke Designer Gouache.
Watch the video below to see how I’ve combined key colours to create the mixes and try it for yourself. This session was recorded live with minimal editing and is 15 minutes long.
July’s Coloricombo theme is Ocean and I used the colours to create a painting of imaginary fish.
There’s a 25 minute video below, again recorded live, for full subscribers.
