The colour of a sea turtle

My own sea turtle artwork for Week 29

∙ Paid

Thanks for your patience. For most of July I was away teaching on an art retreat with a bit of time out afterwards. Now back home, I’ve been catching up with a variety of projects and collaborations and have been, of course, working through the outstanding #coloricombo colour prompts (look out for more released this week).

If you cast your mind way back to Week 29, you might recall the 18th century book by Johann David Schöpf containing an illustration of sea turtles that I took these colours from.

Mixing

I used Golden Paints QoR to mix the colours Deep Ochre, Burnt Umber, Red Brown & Fawn.

Artwork

And here’s what I created using the colours. If you’d like to see how I stamped and painted this sea turtle (hint: cardboard tubes were used) and you’re a full subscriber, the artwork video is below.

If you haven’t already seen it, take a little look at this Loopy Loops post for a bonus demo showing stamping techniques with tubes.
