The muted palette that I shared for Week 31 wasn’t taken from a painting, but from a small ceramic fish that’s almost 3,400 years old.
It blows my mind that something that appears so contemporary is still in one piece with the glaze painted onto it by an Egyptian craftsman in the time of the Pharaohs still showing clearly.

Artwork
I created something linked to the theme of “Ocean” with the colours of Week 31, a decorative crab.
Can you spot the cardboard tube stamping?
Full #coloricombo subscribers can see the 15 minute demo where I showed the process of stamping and painting, incorporating letters to create texture within the crab shape.
Support Coloricombo
Coloricombo started as an Instagram challenge in 2021 and became an ongoing program of weekly colour focussed prompts linked to an artist from the past and a monthly theme. Curating these prompts is a labour of love for me as a curious creative, it does take a chunk of time to curate the content every week. Please consider subscribing, there is a payment option of $8 per month or $80 per annum to help cover some of the time I give to Coloricombo.
What you get in return for your contribution:
You’ll get access to colour mixing demos and regular demos of artworks being created.
Techniques and processes demonstrated using different materials and tools.
Exclusive discounts on all my courses plus occasional give-aways of art materials and products.
