Cicadas, waves and a Delftware vase
Week 37's mixes (with Cicada sounds) and an artwork next to the sea
Continuing September’s theme of “Vase” I used colours from a Delftware vase by Adrianus Kocx and his pottery De Grieksche A produced sometime in the late 17th century. The selection of blue colours are mixed in the demo below.
Live Painting
Would you like to join us for a live painting session?
I’ll be doing a live demo at 4pm BST (11am EDT, 8am PDT) on Tuesday 10 September along with Lori Siebert who’s my co-host for #colorivase, September’s colour and theme challenge linked to the ongoing #coloricombo program. It’ll be on Instagram where you can view the recording afterwards and I’ll post the link here on Substack. Find us here.
Mixing
The colours Powder Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cornflower Blue & Light Grey were all mixed with Golden QoR paints (Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Vandyke Brown and Paynes Grey) plus white designers gouache.
Demo
The marks I made on a watercolour paper during the mixing demo were turned into a Delftware-inspired vase.
